RESISILIENT CHANNEL
With more and more multiple occupancy building being built sound transmission (STC) has become a bigger factor than ever in wall and ceiling design. SANDERS STEEL FRAMING resilient channel significantly improves STC ratings when applied to walls or ceilings.
By installing the one leg to our steel studs the other leg then “floats” eliminating a direct connection between one side of the wall and the other.
Resilient channel is manufactured from hot dipped zinc coated steel with a standard length of 12 feet but custom lengths are readily available upon request.
APPLICABLE STANDARDS
- CAN/CSA S-136-16 (North American specification for the design of cold-formed steel structural members)
- ASTM A653/A653M (Standard for steel sheet, zinc-coated (galvanized) or zinc-iron alloy-coated by the hot-dip process)
- ASTM C645 (Standard specification for non-structural steel framing members)
